SkyAvenue is a new lifestyle mall that opened at the beginning of 2017 in Resorts World Genting. This awesome Genting Highlands mall has over 100 retail shops and around 70 dining outlets. There is also a large variety of entertainment options such as a modern cinema, indoor theme park, wellness spa, karaoke joint, and more! We visited the mall recently and had lots of fun. Below is a list of our ten favourite things to do at SkyAvenue, arranged in alphabetical order.
1. Bona Cinemas
Bona Cinemas is a modern movie theatre located on level one of SkyAvenue. It screens the latest movies.
We caught an exciting midnight movie here. The plush seats were really comfortable and could even shift into a reclining position! This was the perfect way to end the night.
Standard seats cost RM16 per person. IMAX experience and gold class seats are available too.
2. Awana Skyway Cable Car
Chin Swee station

Premium Outlet beside Awana station
Yes, that cable car we rode as kids holding our parents’ hands is still around. It is now known as the Awana Skyway Cable Car. There are three stations: SkyAvenue, Chin Swee, and Awana.
SkyAvenue station is located on level 4 of SkyAvenue mall on the mountain peak. We bought our tickets easily at the booths here.
Chin Swee station is where tourists disembark to explore the Chin Swee Caves Temple. Note that you can use back the same ticket to continue your journey either to Awana Station or to SkyAvenue station.
We enjoyed this attraction very much! It was impressive to see the towering pagoda, beautiful temples, large statues, and variety of Chinese mythology sculptures. This was also the perfect place to enjoy the surrounding scenic mountain views.
Awana station is located on the base of the mountain. It is right next to the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, a retail hub that has around 150 outlet stores! As expected, the wife spent quite a few hours here. Remember to claim this free voucher that entitles you to savings at many outlets, as well as a complimentary F&B voucher.
We took the standard gondola (RM9 one way). For a more interesting experience, you can check out the glass-floor gondola (RM18 one way) to get aerial views of the lush rainforest below. Remember to get round trip tickets if needed.
It was a really fun experience to take the cable car! And it evoked a sense of nostalgia as I sat in the cabin, recalling childhood memories of my holidays in Genting Highlands as a kid.
3. Indulge in the Delicious Food
Palsaik Korean BBQ
Lobster roll from Burger and Lobster
Delicious noodles from LeNu restaurant

We were blown away by the huge variety of delicious food in SkyAvenue! With around 70 eateries in the mall, you can be rest assured that your tummy will be very satisfied.
We indulged in sumptuous Korean BBQ from Palsaik Korean BBQ, ate Chinese Food at LeNu and Canton Paradise, drank bubble tea from KOI and Gong Cha, splurged on fresh (but expensive) lobster rolls from Burger & Lobster, enjoyed tender fried chicken at Marrybrown, and feasted on local delights at Malaysian Food Street.
I honestly wished we could stay a few more days just to check out the other awesome restaurants like Beauty in The Pot, Absolute Thai, Din Tai Fung, and many more!
4. Healing Touch
Healing Touch is a wellness spa located on level 4 inside Ripley’s Adventureland. It offers a variety of services such as full body massage, fish spa, foot reflexology, shoulder massage, etc.
I decided to go for a one hour body massage (RM188) with the wife before dinner, and it was one of the best decisions of our trip!
The whole experience was amazing: from the staff washing our legs with warm water before the massage, to the heavenly body massage, to the hot ginger tea after the massage. It was such a comfortable session that I fell asleep halfway. And my body definitely felt a lot less achy afterwards!
There is another branch at the First World Hotel lobby, but it is a lot smaller and the atmosphere is not as good as the SkyAvenue branch.
5. Ripley’s Adventureland
Jurassic Research Center
Ripley’s Adventureland is a family friendly entertainment hub located on level 4 of SkyAvenue. It houses various attractions such as Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Jurassic Research Center, 4D Trick Art Museum, and Zombie Outbreak.
The Jungle Gym lets your children expend their endless energy with its ball pit, slides, crawling tunnels, trampoline, and more.
These are wonderful attractions for the whole family to spend some time together! Click here to buy admission tickets at a discounted price.
6. Shopping
Ladies rejoice, because there is a myriad of retail shops in SkyAvenue!
We saw plenty of luxury boutiques such as Chanel, Dior, Hugo Boss, Coach, Furla, etc, and mass-market brands like Addidas, Under Armour, Giordano, G2000, Uniqlo, and many more.
There were also beauty and wellness shops like Sephora, Bath and Bodyworks, The Body Shop, etc.
Needless to say, the wife had a great time shopping here. Compared to Singapore, the prices are slightly cheaper.
7. SkyCasino
Feeling lucky? Pop by SkyCasino, a large two-storey casino that opened in the first half of 2017. The casino is designed with a “green forest” theme, which explains the many tree-shaped pillars.
There are also beautiful animated LED lights on the high ceilings, though I think the gamers will probably be too engrossed in their games to really appreciate this.
8. SkySymphony
SkySymphony is a spectacular light show that runs daily at the atrium on the first floor of SkyAvenue. The show is free.
I’ve come across many mall light shows, and I’ve got to say SkySymphony is one of the best.
I was spellbound by the spectacular performance that made use of 1,001 winch balls suspended from the four-storey high ceiling.
The glowing balls changed colours and shifted in unison to take on different shapes as they told a “story”, aided by pleasant music and colourful visuals shown on the surrounding digital screens.
After the show ended, I looked around and realised that I was one of many people looking up to see the show.
There are different performances throughout the whole day. You can see this schedule to find out the exact timings.
9. Skytropolis Funland
Skytropolis Funland is a new indoor theme park that just opened on 08 Dec 2018.
We loved the awesome rides here! We had lots of fun on thrilling rides like Disco! and Power Surge. If you prefer tamer rides, or are with young children, there are also plenty of family-friendly rides.
Other than rides, there is also an awesome virtual reality centre, where visitors get to choose from a variety of VR experiences such as Star Wars, Wreck-it Ralph, etc.
This amazing indoor theme park was definitely one of the highlights of our Genting trip!
10. Zouk Genting
Redtail by Zouk – social gaming lounge for adults
Redtail Karaoke
The nightlife scene in Genting Highlands just got even more vibrant with the recent opening of Zouk Genting! Singapore and Kuala Lumpur clubbers will be familiar with this popular nightclub.
Zouk Genting actually consists of five concepts:
- Zouk Club – Party the night away at this latest club in Genting Highlands!
- Empire – According to its website, this is an “urban lifestyle boutique nightclub” that blends “art, fashion and music” and showcases “Hip Hop and classics”.
- Redtail by Zouk – This is a social gaming lounge for adults with fun games like beer pong, pool, air hockey, giant Jenga, retro arcade games, Xbox games, and more.
- Redtail Karaoke – Unleash your inner diva at this brand new Karaoke joint, which has rooms that can fit groups of 2 to 20 people!
- FUHU – This is a new “Zouk vibe” dining concept restaurant. RW Genting has not released any details on this restaurant yet, other than that it will be opening sometime in 2019.
Coming Soon: Eagle Landing Zipline
Heads up adrenaline junkies! Eagle Landing Zipline, an exhilarating 200 metres zip-line, will be opening soon in SkyAvenue. The zip-line starts from level 4 of SkyAvenue and ends in Skytropolis Funland. This attraction is part of Ripley’s Adventureland.
Conclusion
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at SkyAvenue in Resorts World Genting! This new Genting Highlands mall has attractions and activities for everyone. No matter whether you are travelling in a group, as a couple, or as a family, I’m sure you will have lots of fun here.
