Tolido’s Espresso Nook is a cozy cafe/ coffee bar in the Kampong Glam area that serves great artisan coffee and Western food. It is located about ten minutes away from Haji Lane and Arab Street.
We visited the cafe on a Saturday afternoon at about 1pm and managed to get a table in the corner. A while later, a queue started to form outside the cafe and we were glad we had just managed to avoid the queue.
Good Service
Tolido’s staff hard at work
A friendly staff handed us the menu. Throughout our meal, we had no problems with Tolido’s service at all. The friendly staff were all quick to attend to our needs.
Cozy Ambience
Tolido’s Espresso Nook exudes a cozy indie vibe with its rustic wooden furnishings and old-school tungsten bulbs hanging from the ceiling, complete with background indie music.
There is also a comfy sofa-area at the far end of the joint.
And so we had just discovered another nice place to chill out
Sea Salt Caramel Latte ($6)
The barista preparing his latte with lots of ‘love, passion and attention’
We ordered the Sea Salt Caramel Latte ($6). Tolido’s Espresso Nook serves freshly brewed coffee from its coffee bar, where the barista dutifully prepares delicious coffee with beautiful latte art.
Tolido’s touts on its website that its coffee is prepared with “love, passion and attention”, and we were eager to find out how good it really tasted.
We were not disappointed.
It tucked at our heartstrings to blemish the beautiful latte art, but we had to do it to taste the delicious coffee. The latte had a rich coffee fragrance that was punctuated by the distinctive sweet+salty flavours of the sea salt caramel.
I am not a coffee-connoisseur but this cup of coffee came close to making me a convert.
For food, we went with the Mushroom Aglio Olio with Prawns and the Waffle Slammer.
Mushroom Aglio Olio with Prawn ($15.90)
The pasta was nicely al dente with a light and delicate flavour. The prawns and mushroom slices played a good complement and the generous amounts of virgin oil and sauteed garlic added fragrance to the dish.
Waffle Slammer ($11.90)
Our Waffle Slammer ($11.90) came on a large plate covered with a mouth-watering variety of savoury bacon, caramelized onions, thick crispy waffle and scrambled eggs.
The scrambled eggs were rich and creamy, and the thick waffles went nicely with the caramel sauce.
We finished the dish off with the savoury bacon slices and caramelized onions.
Great Cafe with Cozy Indie Vibe and Artisan Coffee
With its cozy indie vibe, artisan coffee and decent food offerings, Tolido’s Espresso Nook is a great cafe to spend a lazy afternoon chilling out with friends. This is definitely a cafe to check out in the Kampong Glam area!
