Myeong-dong is a popular area in Seoul where you can find large shopping malls, facial mask shops, clothing shops, fashion accessories shops, and more facial masks shops. Other than being a shopping paradise for girls (and nightmare for guys), it is also a place with loads of good food! I am salivating just thinking about all the good food I ate in Myeong-dong. Below are 6 awesome places to eat in Myeong-dong. Have fun food hunting!
Loco Quan 401 Restaurant
Fans of Running Man will want to visit Loco Quan 401 Restaurant, situated in the heart of Myeong-dong. The restaurant offers sumptuous Korean BBQ in a well-ventilated environment, overlooking the bustling streets of Myeong-Dong from the 8th floor of Champion Building. Loco Quan 401 was opened in March 2015 by the affable “HaHa”, a popular member of the Running Man cast. We indulged in the popular Pork Belly (KRW 14,900) and Neck of Pork (KRW 14,900). Both meats were succulent and scrumptious. The Cold Kimchi Noodle (KRW 5,000) was an interesting but delicious dish, with noodles served in ice-cold soup. For drinks, the restaurant staff recommended the Han la san soju (KRW 5,000), which had an alluring piquant flavour. It was a great drink to wash down the sumptuous Korean BBQ!

Korean Dessert Cafe Sulbing
While walking along the streets of Myeong-Dong, we stumbled upon Korean Dessert Cafe Sulbing. The large cafe is famous for its delicious Sulbing (雪冰) dessert, literally translated as “snow-ice”. Sulbing is similar to the traditional Korean dessert Bingsu, but instead of using ice shavings, the base is made from frozen milk. This gave it a luxuriously smooth texture along with a rich, creamy and sweet flavour. We ordered the popular sulbing: Premium Strawberry Snowflake Sherbet (KRW 12,000), which came with generous servings of super fresh strawberries and small chocolate bars. The frozen milk base went perfectly with the strawberries to form a sinfully delicious treat. We also ordered the Injeolmi Toast (KRW 4,500), which will appeal to those looking for something less rich.

Noo Na Hol Dak – Oven Chicken and Beer

Eating at Noo Na Hol Dak in Myeong-dong was one of the highlights of our trip! This Korean Fried chicken restaurant is very popular with locals in Seoul. We ordered the Crispy Baked Chicken (KRW 15,900) which came with Korean pickles, 2 tangy sauces, crunchy fries, and of course the mouth-watering Korean fried chicken pieces! The meat was tender and juicy and the both of us finished everything in a hurry, even though the portion was huge. I washed down the meal with a mug of the Korean Cass draft beer (KRW 3,500). Sometimes, happiness lies in the simple things. Case in point, beer and fried chicken from Noo Na Hol Dak.

Street Food
Of course, no trip to Seoul would be complete without trying the delicious street food. We saw many food vendors along the streets of Myeong-dong selling a variety of foods ranging from fruits to corns to fried squids. The prices were quite affordable. We bought the savoury fried squids which tasted delicious and never reminded me of how high their cholesterol levels were.
MiGaBon (味加本)
Most people know Seoul for its delicious Korean desserts, Korean BBQ, and Korean Fried Chicken. Less well-known is the delicious Korean-style porridge! Case in point, MiGaBon(味加本) at Myeong-dong. We had a little difficulty locating the restaurant, but we finally found it and our efforts were well rewarded. The Mushroom Porridge (KRW 6,000) was a quintessential example of how ALL porridges should be prepared – with a luxuriously smooth texture, savoury taste, and mixed with scrumptious ingredients (mushrooms, sesame seeds, spring onions). I finished the whole bowl within minutes. This was definitely one of our best meals in Seoul!

Kang Ho-Dong Baekjeong
Baekjeong is a popular Korean BBQ restaurant in Myeong-dong opened by top Korean host Kang Ho-Dong. The restaurant uses charcoal instead of gas for grilling, which is supposed to give the meat a nice smoky flavour. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to check out this restaurant. This was one of the regrets of our trip and we will definitely make our way to Baekjeong the next time we visit Seoul!
